Pool pump price depends on motor type, size, brand and installation - not a flat...
Read the guidePool pump repair gets water moving through your filter again, whether the pump is leaking, humming, tripping the breaker or refusing to prime. Pool Quest repairs and replaces pool pumps across Johannesburg, and tells you straight when a repair is not worth it.
Tell us what your pump is doing and we will quote the repair, or a replacement if that is the better option.
Most pump problems fall into a few patterns, and each points to a different part:
We start by finding the cause, not just the symptom. A technician checks the power supply and breaker, the water level and baskets, the lid and suction for air leaks, and the motor for heat, noise and current draw.
You get a quote before any work starts. We then replace the failed part, such as a seal, capacitor, impeller, O ring or bearing, and test the pump for prime, flow, filter pressure and leaks before we leave.
Repair is the right call when the motor runs quietly and cool and the fault is in a seal, lid or capacitor. Replacement makes more sense when the motor is noisy, overheating or keeps failing.
If replacement is the better choice, we size the new pump to your filter and plumbing rather than simply fitting a bigger one. Our guides explain how to repair or replace your pool pump and what a new pool pump costs.
The surge when power returns after a cut is a common cause of failed capacitors, timers and motors in Johannesburg pools. Surge protection on the pool circuit, and switching the pump off before scheduled outages, prevents a lot of these repairs.
A few habits add years to a pump: empty the skimmer and pump baskets weekly, keep the water halfway up the skimmer opening, lubricate the lid O ring with silicone grease, and keep the motor dry and ventilated. Our guide on how to clean your pool pump walks through it.
Most common repairs, such as a seal, capacitor or O ring, are done in one visit. Parts for less common pump models may need to be ordered first.
Usually a failed start capacitor or a jammed impeller. Switch the pump off straight away, because leaving it humming can burn out the motor.
Not for long. Water from a leaking seal works its way into the motor bearings, which turns a cheap seal repair into a motor replacement.
It depends on the fault and the parts needed. We diagnose the pump first and give you a quote before any work starts.
